Stage & Screen Combat Workshop - February Half Term

Stage & Screen Combat Workshop

The workshop will help children gain and develop a professional knowledge and understanding of the methods used in stage combat including fundamental safety techniques. The physical workshop will focus on unarmed combat providing children with strong foundation skills to build upon.Stage combat is not just about learning how to hit someone on stage (without actually hitting them of course), it covers a wide range of performance and social skills. At even a basic level stage combat encourages partnership, co-operation, confidence and trust. It teaches co-ordination, awareness, respect and control. It is not just a physical activity either, it requires a great deal of concentration to create a layers of character, motivation/intention, reaction/consequence and on a theoretical level students are taught to consider the effects of violence, both physical and mental, on the victim and the attacker.

The workshop will cater for two age groups with the younger group on Monday and the older group on Tuesday. There will be a presentation to parents & friends at the end of each workshop.
